Osborne Macharia, a visionary commercial and advertising photographer from Kenya, has transcended the conventional path to becoming a prominent figure in the photography world. Despite holding a Bachelor's degree in architecture, Macharia's passion and self-taught expertise in photography has led him to a successful career behind the lens, marked by a four-year journey of growth, discovery, and accomplishment.

Macharia's work, characterized by its depth, creativity, and innovation, has caught the attention of top local and international brands, including Coke, Guinness, Samsung, and Kenya Airways. His collaborations with international agencies from London and the US reflect a growing recognition of African talent in the global photography scene, a movement Macharia is proud to be part of.

“I have been on this photography journey for nearly four years now and I have been privileged to work with some of the top local and international brands such as Coke, Guinness, Samsung, Kenya Airways, etc. I have also worked with international agencies from London and the US and that has given me hope that African photographers are slowly making an impact. When there’s a break from my commercial assignments, I love working on my own personal projects. I get to define and refine my work more and more.”

Macharia's contributions have been acknowledged on prestigious platforms such as African Digital Art and Hasselblad Bulletin. He is also an elite member of Best of Wedding Photography, an invitation-only website for the world's best wedding photographers, underscoring his versatility and skill in various photography genres.

Inspired by renowned photographers like Joey L, Dean Bradshaw, Dave Hill, Jim Fiscus, Alan Clarke, and Todd Anthony, Macharia aspires to push the boundaries of African photography. He envisions a future where African photographers and artists gain international acclaim and compete on an equal footing with their global counterparts.

“Our market is dynamic and young, especially for African photographers and the possibilities are endless. My desire is to see African photographers and artists compete on an international level and receive recognition. My dream is to one day have my work exhibited in Paris, London, and New York, as well as scoop a Cannes Award one day.”
